چکیده
Tree ring analysis is essential to reveal the environmental information encoded in wood structure. It provides quantitative data on anatomical structure which can be used, for example, measure impact of fluctuating environment tree growth, support global vegetation models and dendrochronological archaeological wooden artefacts. Currently, several imaging-based methods tree-ring detection feature estimation exist. However, despite advances computer vision edge recognition algorithms, tree-rings mostly limited two-dimensional (2D) datasets performed manually some cases. This paper describes a new approach estimate three-dimensional (3D) rings their width automatically from X-ray computed tomography data. relies modified Canny algorithm, capable detecting fully connected edges throughout image stack. Our results show that this performs well six species having conifer, ring-porous diffuse-porous boundary structures. In our study, denoising proved critical step achieve accurate results. A major advantage procedure it requires very little no user interaction rendering reproducible measurements. As also 3D representations edges, may used future inspection features.

X-ray computed tomography.
X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today. CT has shown a steady upward trend with respect to technology, performance and clinical use independent of predictio...
متن کاملEmpirical correlation for porosity deduction from X-ray computed tomography (CT)
For obtaining reservoir petrophysical properties, for example porosity, non-destructive methods such as X-ray computed tomography, CT, seems to be precise and accurate. Porosity is deducted from the CT image with a single scan via different techniques, such as pore space detection by image segmentation techniques then correlation with porosity. More than one hundred samples with carbonate li...
متن کاملAdapted sampling for 3D X-ray computed tomography
In this paper, we introduce a method to build an adapted mesh representation of a 3D object for X-Ray tomography reconstruction. Using this representation, we provide means to reduce the computational cost of reconstruction by way of iterative algorithms. The adapted sampling of the reconstruction space is directly obtained from the projection dataset and prior to any reconstruction. It is buil...
متن کاملPorosity Measurement Method by X-ray Computed Tomography
Therefore, the new method, called the grey level method, which reflects the phenomenon of image processing and computation of ration between the volume of voids and the total volume of the entire sample, was considered and improved in term of image noise and artifacts. The volumes of 2D CT image as a surface are achieved by means of integrating the surface with operations relating to image hist...

Micro-computed tomography (μCT) has been successfully used to study the cardiovascular system of mouse embryos in situ. With the use of barium as a suitablecontrast agent, blood vessels have beenimaged and analysed quantitatively such asblood volume and vessel sizes on embryosof ages 14.5 to 16.5 days old. The advantageof using this imaging modality is that it hasprovide...
